Storms to end the work week, with building heat for Memorial Day
TODAY: It will continue to remain on the warm side across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures warm into the upper 80s this afternoon. As the summer like pattern continues, we’ll see afternoon showers and storms. Most of the activity will be south of I-70 and very isolated in nature. Outside of the small storm chance, it will be mostly sunny and humid this afternoon.
TONIGHT: With partly cloudy skies we are going to see an increasing storm chance overnight. Storms in northwest Missouri will drop south, with rain and storms arriving for the morning commute, especially north of I-70. Overnight lows drop to into the mid and upper 60s.
EXTENDED: Morning showers and storms will continue to weaken and end by noon. Clouds will thin out and temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80s Friday afternoon. There is a slight chance of new storms popping up in the afternoon with the best chance south of I-70, some of these could be strong to severe. Overnight Friday a developing storm system could be affecting our southern counties by Saturday morning, again the best chance looks to be south of I-70. Saturday will be hot and humid with high temperatures nearing 90 and heat indices up to 95 degrees. A weak passing cold front will allow for plenty of dry time as well as consistently warm temperatures as winds quickly shift back to the south after the frontal passage. Memorial Day weekend is looking to remain on the toasty side, as highs climb into the upper 80s under a mixture of sun and clouds and nights in the upper 60s.
