Scattered storms and remaining warm this afternoon

TODAY: Isolated storms are popping up in Mid-Missouri along an upper level low south of I-70. These storms will continue to fire through the day as the several upper level disturbances rotate through the region. No severe weather is expected, but areas that do see thunderstorms could see winds up to 45 mph and hail up to nickel size. Areas that remain dry will climb into the lower 80s today, while those who see thunderstorms stay in the 70s. Winds through the afternoon will remain out of the northeast up to 12 mph.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies and lingering showers will stick around through the night, as the weak boundary continues to track off to the east. Most locations will dry out after 10 PM, with a mild night to follow. Lows will bottom out near 60 degrees, with winds out of the northeast up to 8 mph.

EXTENDED: We’ll heat up more for the end of the week, reaching the mid to upper 80s Friday as the dry weather continues. However, extreme eastern parts of Mid-Missouri may see some isolated storms, as the upper level disturbance finally pulls off to the east. The better chance for storms arrive as we head into the weekend. Storms in Nebraska and northeast Kansas Friday night could drop to the southeast and affect parts of MId-Missouri Saturday morning with the best chance west of HWY 63. We will begin to dry out by mid to late morning. Clouds will break up in the afternoon and temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s Saturday with more humidity due to southerly winds. A few more storms are possible Saturday afternoon but will become more likely Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front approaches. Once the cold front finally makes it way through later in the day on Sunday we will see temperatures cool back into the lower 80s Sunday as winds shift back to the north. We’ll watch for the potential of strong to severe storms Saturday and Saturday night. Watch ABC 17 News and check back here for updates.
