Law enforcement search area near The Crossing in south Columbia

Columbia police and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers searched the area near a south Columbia church on Tuesday morning.

Police confirmed it started with a disturbance in the 1200 block of Grindstone Parkway just before 2 a.m. Soon after, Columbia Fire was dispatched to a single vehicle crash near The Crossing.

Police said the driver of the car ran from the scene while two other people stayed behind. Neither needed medical attention, and one of them was detained shortly before being released.

Police began a search for the driver with the help of state troopers. K-9 units were brought to the scene to assist in the search, but the driver was not found.
