Storms bring damaging wind Monday, May 14

Storm developed in warm, moist air Monday afternoon ahead of a nearly stationary front draped across northwestern Missouri. They quickly strengthened in the unstable air and became more widespread by mid-afternoon. The first storms popped up by 1 PM and quickly developed into a line, pushing east through Mid-Missouri by 5 PM. These produced strong winds of 50-70 mph, causing damage in parts of Mid-Missouri. Here are the storm reports we received. A second batch of storms developed in western Missouri and tracked south of I-70 after 6 PM.

2:45 PM: Nelson: 10-15″ tree limbs down, minor roof damage to a church and a power line down, 3:25 PM: Boonville: Power lines and a tree down, 3:28 PM: Fayette: Trees down along HWY 124, 3:55 PM: Hallsville: Tree fell into transformer knocking out power, 3:57 PM: Columbia: Tree blown down across from West Middle School, 3:58 PM: Columbia: Mobile home on Clark Lane sustained roof damage, 4:10 PM Hatton: new building collapsed at Black Market Arms, 4:20 PM: Auxvasse: Tree down along county road 262,4:33 PM: Farber: 3-5″ tree limbs blown onto HWY W & K, 15″ diameter dead tree also blown over, 4:41 PM: Bellflower: Trees blown down as well as power lines. Pole barn blown down and some roof damage, 4:43 PM: Kingdom City: Tree down along State Route Z near Calwood, 4:55 PM: Williamsburg: Tree Blocking northbound traffic along HWY D near Yucatan, 6:29 PM: Sedalia: Tree blown onto Rissler Road
