Jury trial set in JCPS discrimination lawsuit

The Jefferson City Public School District is set to go to jury trial in the latest of a string of discrimination lawsuits.

Tammy Ferry, an employee of Jefferson City Public Schools, filed a lawsuit against JCPS in April 2017. Ferry claims she is a victim of sex and age discrimination, and that the district retaliated against her after testifying in a similar case two years ago.

Online court records showed that the two parties involved in the lawsuit had a conference call on Wednesday.

The trial is set for February 25. Since JCPS is a large employer in Cole County, the Clerk of Courts is asked to have at least 90 people in the jury pool, according to online court records.

This will be the second of the four lawsuits to go to a trail by jury.
