Warm nights, hot days this weekend

TONIGHT: Temperatures will only drop to near 70 tonight as clouds increase. Southerly winds will diminish to 7-10 mph.

SATURDAY: The day will start off with clouds and mild temperatures as a cluster of strong storms move across northern Missouri, near a stationary frontal boundary. Most of the rain looks like it will stay north of HWY 36 but a few storms could drop farther south through mid-morning. Therefore, clouds will be thicker north of I-70 but areas south will have more morning sunshine. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to near 90 in the afternoon under partly sunny skies and it will be a bit breezy with southwest winds at 10-16 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times.

EXTENDED: We’ll have a repeat for Mother’s Day as morning showers and storms are likely in northern Missouri, spreading clouds into Mid-Missouri. It’s possible that a few storms could drift as far south as HWY 24 in the morning but most will stay north. Clouds will thin out and it will be a dry and toasty afternoon with high temperatures reaching the upper 80s north of I-70 and low 90s south under partly cloudy skies as southerly winds continue at 6-12 mph. It will feel slightly humid as dew points climb into the low to mid 60s. Next week still looks warm with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s through Wednesday, dropping into the lower 80s Thursday. There is a better chance of storms tracking into the region as a frontal boundary finally makes its way further south into our area. Periods of showers and storms are possible through the week bringing much needed rainfall to Mid-Missouri. Watch ABC 17 News for the newest forecast and check back here for updates.
