As budget talks briefly halt, lawmakers make final push for passing law

Lawmakers in both chambers of the state legislature had an opportunity to move non-budget bills forward Tuesday, as a mandatory waiting period put off budget talks.

House Speaker Todd Richardson said there is a wait period after the House budget and the Senate appropriations committees distribute their recommendations for the state budget.

Both the House and Senate are expected to discuss the budget on the floor Wednesday. The deadline for lawmakers to put forward a finalized budget is Friday at 6 p.m.
