Columbia man charged after accused of breaking into home, threatening female

A Columbia man is officially charged after he was accused of breaking into a home and threatening to hurt a female.

Tuesday morning, around 3:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Commerical Drive in reference to a burglary.

Officers were advised that a man, Adam Wesbury, was breaking into the residence and that the occupant had an order of protection against him.

Investigators say Wesbury forced entry into the home by breaking a window and later confronted the female victim.

Wesbury left the home, returned and broke back into the home again through the garage, police said. According to investigators, Wesbury prevented the female from leaving the home. Further investigation revealed officers responded to the address earlier in the morning for a 911 check, but were unable to make contact with anyone at the home.

The victim reported that Wesbury didn’t allow her or juveniles to answer the door, and that he also threatened to hurt the victim.

Wesbury was arrested on charges of felony kidnapping, violation of order of protection, burglary, and misdemeanor domestic assault.
