Traffic stop leads to arrest after officers find drugs

A early morning traffic stop led police to arrest a man with cocaine inside his car.

Early Wednesday morning officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Vandiver and Providence road when they saw a vehicle stopped beyond the white stop line at the intersection. When officers originally tried to pull the car over, the car failed to stop.

The car eventually came to a stop in the area of Phyllis Avenue and Parkade Boulevard. The driver was identified as Donzell Tolston.

When officers searched the car, they found a digital scale with a white, powdery residue that tested positive for cocaine.

Tolston has a revoked driving status.

Tolston was arrested at 12:28 a.m. for felony resisting arrest, felony operated motor vehicle on highway while license revoked, and misdemeanor operated motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia with a release on municipal summons.
