A study suggests demolishing 15 houses on Grace Lane as the cheapest way to reduce congestion
ABC 17 spoke to resident and retiree, John Donelon, who lives on Grace Lane and fears his home will be taken away from him to reduce congestion in the area and provide direct access to Interstate 70.
A study conducted by Columbia Public Works suggests getting rid of the fifteen houses on Grace Lane would be the cheapest option to minimize traffic and congestion in the area.
Donelon told us, “I am 81-years-old, where would I go? This is my home.”
He told us he has been living in the house for twenty-plus years and he worries the city will take it away from him.
ABC 17 spoke to Ward 3 Council Member Karl Skala who told us this is not likely to happen. He said they need to reduce congestion in the area, but ripping out fifteen people’s homes does not seem right.
We are in touch with Columbia Public Works to see what they have to say about the study they conducted.
