Warm week with strong storms possible by midweek
TODAY: Spot showers are possible through early afternoon, thanks to a decaying line of storms that tracked out of Nebraska through the night. Outside of that, most locations will stay on the dry side under partly cloudy skies. Despite the clouds in place, temperatures will climb into the lower 80s today as we continue to see warmer air track into the region. It will also be breeze, as winds will be out of the south up to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 through the day.
TONIGHT: Another dry night is expected with partly cloudy skies and warm temps. With southerly winds from 12-17 mph overnight lows only drop into the mid 60s by morning.
EXTENDED: Wednesday will feel more like early June as we reach the low to mid 80s under partly sunny skies. Isolated t-storms are possible Wednesday but most areas will stay dry and breezy during the day. Showers and storms are more likely Wednesday night ahead of a slow moving cold front. These will increase from the west overnight into early Thursday with a few strong or severe storms possible, but even then a lot of the activity looks to stay to the north. Wednesday night, most areas along and west of HWY 63 are under a slight risk for severe weather with our eastern counties in a marginal risk with main threats damaging winds and large hail. Thursday looks like a wet day as scattered showers and t-storms are expected much of the day, tapering off Thursday night as the cold front pushes east. Thursday we have the continued chance for severe weather as all of mid-Missouri is under a slight risk. Severe storm development could be tricky with the lack of sunshine providing enough daytime heating, but if storms initialize we could see the risk for damaging winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado. We will dry out Friday morning and into the weekend with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 70s Saturday, low to mid 70s Sunday and nights in the 50s.
