UPDATE: Power restored to Columbia Water and Light customers Tuesday morning

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.: The Columbia Water and Light spokesperson said that a squirrel got on the utility pole at Chapel Hill Road and Keystone Drive and caused a fuse to go out.

UPDATE 8 a.m.: Power has been restored to all Columbia Water and Light customers after they experienced a power outage Tuesday morning.

UPDATE 7:45 a.m.: Power has been restored to some Columbia Water and Light customers after they experienced a power outage Tuesday morning, according to the utility’s outage map.

The outage map showed that about 30 customers in the southwest part of the city continued to experience an outage. The map also showed that utility crews were in the area working to completely restore power.

The cause is still unknown at this time.

UPDATE 7:30 a.m.: Columbia Water and Light crews have been dispatched to evaluate the cause of the power outage, according to Lucia Bourgeois, spokesperson for the utility company.

At last check, about 130 customers are without power, according to the power outage map. The majority of the outage occurred in the southwest part of the city.

ORIGINAL: Columbia Water and Light customers experienced a power outage Tuesday morning, according to the utility’s outage map.

The map showed that more than 60 customers were out of power around 7 a.m., and as of 7:20 a.m. it showed more than 100 customers were affected.
