Woman charged with first degree murder in connection with Officer Ryan Morton’s death

Charges have been amended for a woman accused of being in the house at the time of the deadly Clinton shooting.

ABC 17 previously reported that Henry County Prosecutor Richard Shields charged Tammy Widger with second-degree murder with her involvement in the death of Officer Ryan Morton.

Widger has now been charged with murder in the first degree. Court documents state that Widger “aided James Waters in planning, committing or attempting to kill Morton.”

Widger is also charged with assaulting special victims in the first degree for “aiding James Water in planning, committing or attempting to shoot Officer Nathan Bettencourt and Officer Nicholas Kasper.
