Maries County deputies arrest unregistered sex offender and find drugs

Maries County deputies arrested Joseph Newkirk and Hollis Therkelsen on Friday after officers received a tip that a non-compliant sex offender was currently at the residence.

Deputies said when they arrived on scene, they saw drug paraphernalia and a suspected controlled substances in plain view.

Therkelsen faces possible charges of possession of a controlled substance and illegal use of drug paraphernalia.

Newkirk faces possible charges of failing to register as a sex offender, possession of a controlled substance and illegal use of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $50,000 cash surety bond.
