Columbia police arrest man accused of attacking another man with fish hook

UPDATE 5:45 pm: Barbero has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and domestic assault.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Casey Barbero after officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Woodland Drive for reports of a domestic assault with a weapon.

A 48-year-old man said Barbero had been up for days, using meth, and attacked him with a large fish hook.

Police saw cuts in the man’s clothes and officers found a metal fish hook in Barbero’s hand.

Police said there was a crystalline substance and a glass pipe in Barbero’s backpack.

Barbero was taken to a secured facility but was later arrested. He faces possible charges of domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance.
