Second suspect charged in deadly Sedalia shooting

A man has been charged with assault, armed criminal action, robbery and unlawful use of weapon after a deadly shooting in Sedalia.

ABC 17 previously reported that Maurice Harper Sr. had died after a shooting in the 1200 block of East 4th Street.

A witness told police that Maurice Harper had contacted him to purchase marijuana. When the witness did not have any, he told Harper that he would go get some from a neighbor.

While the witness was at the neighbor’s house, Antonio Harper rang the doorbell and then brandished a gun.

The witness was able to get out of the house but heard gunshots as he was running away.

Police said during the incident, Eric Harper was also on scene. Eric Harper told officers that he knew Maurice Harper and the neighbor were feuding over previous drug purchases.

When officers found Antonio Harper, he implicated himself in the shooting by saying that he did not fire his gun until he was shot at.

According to the probable cause statement, Eric Harper and Antonio Harper have extensive criminal histories.
