Inmate facing charges after alleged assault with mop handle

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department arrested 63-year-old inmate Walter Lee Lewis on Friday after he allegedly attacked another inmate with a mop handle.

A Sergeant with the Sheriff’s department could not provide any detail as to what started the fight, but no one medical attention was required after the incident.

Lewis, who is from Columbia, is facing charges of unlawful use of a weapon and second degree assault. He is already facing charges of assault and trespassing.
