Man arrested for threatening another man with gun, hitting him multiple times

UPDATE 3:35 pm: Saunders has been charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the probable cause statement, Saunders placed the gun on the victim’s forehead and said, “You’re threatening my household.”

Saunders was accused of hitting the victim approximately 30 times.

Police said Saunders had an active probation warrant and has escaped jail.

ABC 17 was able to get the affidavit of fugitive from justice which states that Saunders escaped from confinement in San Diego.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police arrested Cody Saunders after officers were dispatched to the Welcome Inn on Providence Road for reports of an assault with a gun.

Saunders was accused of pointing a gun at a man, placing the gun in his pocket and then hitting the victim multiple times.

Police said the victim had bruising on his face, a cut on his hand and cracked teeth.

Saunders faces possible charges of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful for certain people to possess concealable firearm and assault.
