Special Investigative Committee expected to release report on investigation into governor

Missourians may soon be able to learn what the Special Investigative Committee has discovered in its investigation of alleged blackmail by Gov. Eric Greitens.

In a statement on Friday, State Rep. Jay Barnes, the committee chair, and House Speaker Todd Richardson said the report will be issued the week of April 9 and will be released to the public once it’s finalized.

The statement came several days after Greitens’ attorneys sent a letter to the committee and asked for it to delay the release of the report until after the governor’s jury trial, which is about the same allegation.

The committee was given 40 days to investigate the allegations and issue a report. Monday marks the 40-day deadline.

The committee is scheduled to meet Monday afternoon at the Capitol, and it is the only meeting scheduled for the committee during the week. Committee members have not confirmed if the report will be released during or after the meeting.
