UPDATE: Man charged with murder in Pinehurst shooting
UPDATE 7 pm: Court documents say that deputies spoke to a witness who was driving with the victim before returning to Pinehurst Lane. The witness saw Doxley park around the corner from them.
Multiple shots were fired moments later and Roy was fatally injured.
Court document also say there was another person with Doxley, but we don’t know that person’s identity. The witness saw both Doxley and the other man holding handguns.
UPDATE 3 pm: Doxley has been charged with murder in the first degree and armed criminal action.
UPDATE 11 am: Boone County deputies confirm Doxley is being held without bond.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s department could not confirm if there were any other suspects involved, but neighbors are telling ABC 17 crews that they saw Doxley with two others around the time of the shooting.
UPDATE 2:30 am: Officials at the Boone County Jail confirmed to ABC 17 News early Wednesday morning that a man is being held on suspicion of murder for the deadly shooting on Pinehurst Lane Tuesday.
Damontrion Doxley, 19, is being held in the jail on suspicion of first degree murder and armed criminal action.
A judge has yet to set his bond. Doxley is set to appear in Boone County Court at 1:30 p.m.
UPDATE 8:50 pm: Boone County deputies confirm the victim, 27-year-old Javonte D. Roy, has died.
An official release was sent out Tuesday night stating Roy was shot outside of a home on the 5500 block of Pinehurst Lane in the Lake of the Woods area.
Roy was pronounced dead at University Hospital. The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. and deputies responded to the scene after multiple 9-1-1 calls from citizens reporting hearing gunshots.
The release confirmed no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident should call CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS (8477).
UPDATE 5:30 pm: Boone County deputies have confirmed the shooting on Pinehurst Lane and said that one person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time.
