Dismissal delayed at Alpha Hart Lewis as police investigate “incident”

UPDATE: Police said that officers were dispatched to the area of Arbor Pointe Parkway and Flatwater Drive for reports of a suicidal person with a gun.

Officers said they let the school know about the incident immediately and the school went on a soft lockdown.

Police were able to take one person into custody.

ORIGINAL POST: A Columbia Public Schools spokesperson announced on Wednesday that Alpha Hart Lewis’ dismissal was delayed by about 15 minutes while police investigated an incident close to the school.

The spokesperson said that the incident did not involve the school and parents received text alerts about it.
