UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Freeburg crash

UPDATE- 4/4/18 10:30 am: The victim has been identified as David Harper.

According to the traffic crash report, the crash happened when a Dodge Dart, a Chevrolet Suburban and a Buick Lasabre were stopped behind a Jeep Cherokee as it was making a left turn. A semi struck hit the Dodge, which had a domino effect on the rest of the vehicles.

The Chevrolet and the Buick traveled off the right side of the roadway and down an embankment.

The Dodge and the Buick were totaled.

Troopers said two women also suffered injuries due to the crash.

UPDATE – 4/4/18: A total of five vehicles were involved in a crash that killed one person and injured two others Tuesday.

Osage County deputies responded around 1:30 p.m. to Hwy 63 at the intersection of state highway JJ.

The department said a 55-year-old man was killed in the crash and two others were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

US Highway 63 was closed for approximately 1 1/2 hours for the investigation and removal of the vehicles,” said Sheriff Mike Bonham. “The crash has been turned over to Missouri State Highway crash team to investigate the cause.”

UPDATE: Maries County deputies said the crash is a multi-vehicle fatality accident.

Officers are asking drivers to avoid the area, if possible.

ORIGINAL STORY: Emergency crews responded to Route 63 near Freeburg on Tuesday afternoon for reports of a crash.

MODOT officials said both lanes of traffic are closed due to the crash and crews are not sure when they will be reopened.
