Man accused of running from university police during traffic stop

A Columbia man is facing several charges after police said he hit a car and ran from police during a traffic stop.

Major Brian Weimer with the University of Missouri Police Department said officers tried to pull over Jarvis Chevis near Stadium Boulevard and Ashland Road Friday night. Weimer said Chevis continued to drive into a parking lot where he hit another car.

Chevis then reportedly took off running before he was taken into custody.

Chevis was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of a accident.

Online jail records indicate he has bonded out of the Boone County Jail.
