National “stop the bleed” day teaches bystanders how to stop critical bleeding

National “Stop the Bleed” day is today, March 31st.

The White House launched this national campaign in 2015. It is a program that is designed to turn regular people into life-savers.

After a traumatic injury or event, the fate of the patient is determined in a matter of minutes, oftentimes before medical help arrives. It is critical for people to know techniques to control bleeding.

Today, Missouri Health Care will hold two free “Stop the Bleed” training sessions that teach people the ABCs of how to stop critical bleeding.

The training sessions will be held today, at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, 1100 Virginia Avenue, Rooms 2252 and 2257 at either times:

9 to 10:30 a.m. 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The instructor will be Assistant Professor Christopher Nelson with the Division of Acute Care Surgery School of Medicine.
