More heavy rain brings a continued threat for flooding

**FLOOD WATCH** MONDAY 7PM – TUESDAY 7PM

COUNTIES: CAMDEN, MILLER, COLE, OSAGE, MARIES, PULASKI, PHELPS, GASCONADE

THREATS INCLUDE: FLOODING ALONG STREAMS, CREEKS & LOW-LYING AREAS. FLOODED ROADWAYS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

TUESDAY : The heaviest band of rain will set up early this morning and is expected to be near and just north of the I-44 corridor– where we could see possible flooding. Rain will decrease north of I-70 first this morning from 5-7 AM. Areas along and south of HWY 50 will see r ain continue through the day, tapering off by late afternoon and evening as temperatures fall. We’ll start off in the upper 40s to lower 50s in the morning but temperatures will fall through the day as winds shift to the north. Rainfall amounts from Monday night through Tuesday evening are expected to come in at 1-4″ south of I-70 with highest totals near I-44 and under an inch north of I-70.

TONIGHT: Early this evening light rain showers will hang overhead of the I-44 corridor, but they will completely move out of the area after midnight. With winds shifted out of the northeast from 5-7 mph, temperatures will drop back into the mid 30s by morning under mostly cloudy skies.

EXTENDED: With this next shot of cold air by Wednesday morning it will be a chilly AM commute with wind chills near freezing to start the day. We will try to dry out Wednesday as highs recover back to the middle 50s with a little sunshine breaking through. Thursday brings more rain back into the forecast, with fairly active weather pattern carrying us through the weekend with on and off rain chances into early April. Temperatures remain fairly consistent in the 50s through the work week, however a more impressive shot of cold looks to be on the horizon into next weekend, where we will likely see well below average temperatures.
