UPDATE: Confirmed shooting in northeast Columbia, one car struck with bullets

UPDATE 4:15 pm: Columbia police said the shooting happened when a man and a juvenile were driving in the area of Shamrock Drive and Irma Drive when another car approached them and started shooting at the victim’s vehicle.

ABC 17 spoke with a resident in the area and said she saw the shooting happen and claimed the juvenile was as young as 1-year-old.

Police said officers found multiple shell casings in the area and there was damage done to the vehicle.

Officers said the investigation is ongoing and asks anyone with information regarding the shooting need to call the police department at (573) 874-7652 or CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.

UPDATE 1:50 pm: Columbia police confirmed there was a shooting in the area of Shamrock and Irma Drives.

Police said one car was struck and at least one person was inside of the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Officers said there are no reported injuries or suspects at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: Multiple police officers responded to Rice Road on Monday afternoon.

ABC 17 is on scene and sees a section of road blocked off with crime scene tape.

There were reports of a shooting in the area, but nothing has been confirmed.
