Multi-day rain event kicks off today

**FLOOD WATCH** MONDAY 7PM – TUESDAY 7PM

COUNTIES: CAMDEN, MILLER, COLE, OSAGE, MARIES, PULASKI, PHELPS, GASCONADE

THREATS INCLUDE: FLOODING ALONG STREAMS, CREEKS & LOW-LYING AREAS. FLOODED ROADWAYS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

TODAY: Get the umbrella and rain coats ready because it will be a soggy start to your Monday as we will scattered showers begin to increase into mid-Missouri from 6-8 AM. That rain will continue all the way through the afternoon with embedded thunderstorms. There is a marginal risk for a isolated severe thunderstorms this afternoon where we could see winds up to 60 mph and hail >1″ in diameter. Temperatures will hover in the mid to upper 50s with breezy winds out of the southeast. By the evening commute we could see a brief lull in thunderstorm activity, but that won’t last long.

TONIGHT: Showers and t-storms will increase into the area again moving southwest to northeast. This is when we will see the heaviest downpours as a band of heavy rain looks to hang near the I-44 corridor through tomorrow morning. Temperatures hover steady in the low 50s tonight with winds out of the south up to 11 mph.

EXTENDED: Tuesday morning showers will continue mainly south of I-70, with rain chances through the entire day as temperatures reach back into the upper 50s. By Tuesday night we will see a shot of cold air as low temperatures drop back into the 30s. We will try to dry out Wednesday as highs recover back to the middle 50s with more sunshine, however, a more impressive shot of cold looks to be on the horizon into next weekend, where we will likely see well below average temperatures.
