Attorney General’s office issues 15 subpoenasin Greitens’ charity investigation

UPDATE 4:46 P.M.: Some experts are saying that if someone takes a charity list without permission and uses it for campaign purposes, it can be considered theft.

Attorney General Hawley says he cannot release the names of those subpoenaed because it could impact the investigation. “We have subpoenaed staff, and former staff from The Mission Continues, we have subpoenaed the Greitens Group, we have subpoenaed staff and former staff from the Greitens Group and we have subpoenaed staff or former staff from the campaign entity.”

ABC 17 asked a former local prosecutor, Bill Tackett, what kind of law-breaking does using a charity donor list for political advancement fall under.

“Giving a list out to somebody you shouldn’t have, these all fall under campaign finance laws… there are criminal penalties for this,” said Tackett.

Attorney General Hawley says they are working vigilantly to get to the truth and the case is progressing by the day.

“I would strongly counsel those who have or will receive receive a subpoena from this office to cooperate fully, to comply fully and promptly with this office’s subpoenas. Failure to do so is a a separate criminal violation under Missouri statute.” said Attorney General Hawley.

Attorney General Hawley said that if anyone tries to challenge a subpoena, they have subpoena power and will go to court if they have to.

ORIGINAL STORY: Attorney General Josh Hawley gave an update on the investigation into Greitens’ charity on Friday morning.
