Wanted man arrested after multi-county investigation

Callaway County deputies arrested James Atterberry, 26, on an Audrain County arrest warrant on Wednesday.

Audrain County deputies said the arrest stemmed from an investigation that began on March 2 in the 1700 block of Missouri Route FF in Audrain County.

The victim said they saw a suspicious vehicle parked on their property early in the morning. While the victim was investigating the incident, he saw Atterberry flee the property in a vehicle.

Officers said there were multiple items missing from an outbuilding on the property.

Audrain County deputies said they asked the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office to help find Atterberry. He was wanted for burglary and stealing.

A spokesperson for the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department said the investigation is a great example of the long standing professional working relationship between the two counties. As a result, multiple crimes which often cross the county line get solved.
