Mexico Department of Public Safety investigates possible bomb threat, takes one man into custody

Mexico Department of Public Safety officials have taken one man into custody after officers investigated a possible bomb threat.

On Thursday morning, Audrain County Joint Communications received a call from a man who was making comments about bombs being in schools and on school buses.

Police said they alerted the Mexico Public Schools about the possible threat. Teachers were told to be alert for any suspicious activity or items around the schools.

Minutes later, the man called joint communications again saying there were no bombs and that he had misunderstood something that he overheard.

Officers were able to find the caller and take him into custody.

Police said they were able to determine that the man had not taken any actions towards harming the schools and had no information about anyone else who wanted to harm the schools.

The investigation is ongoing.
