Central Neighborhood leaders, residents scheduled to meet Thursday

UPDATE 12:35 pm: The meeting will be held at the Downtown Optimist Club on Grand Avenue from 6 to 7:45 pm.

ORIGINAL STORY: Central Columbia residents are scheduled to meet Thursday night with city leaders and police to discuss what they would like to see improve in their neighborhood.

Thursday night’s meeting will be a continuation of the last several meetings the city has hosted for the central neighborhood.

Some of the items on the agenda for today include code enforcement cases within the central neighborhood, possible changes with landlords, safety update on crime within the past month and what residents can do to help lower crime in their neighborhood.

Neighborhood meetings have grown out of the city’s 2016-2019 Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is focused on five priority areas: social equity, economy, public safety, infrastructure and operational excellence.
