Seasonal temperatures, with daily rain chances into the weekend

TODAY: It’s a chilly and clear start to your Thursday morning, with many locations hovering near freezing. Light winds out of the southwest are keeping making it feel more like the upper 20s across the region. While sunshine will be around through the early morning hours, clouds will quickly increase through the day, as a weak upper level disturbance tracks through Mid-Missouri. This will bring with it a light band of rain showers, primarily from 6 to 10 AM. Any light rain that we do see will be confined to areas along and north of I-70, with a few spot showers drifting south in eastern Mid-Missouri. Any rain we do see will amount to less than a tenth of an inch. Highs today will climb into the mid to upper 50s, with winds remaining out of the southeast up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: A chance for showers south of I-70 exists as we head into the evening hours as a wave tracks in from the west. While dry air will remain in place, any rain we see this evening will be very light in nature and primarily confined to southern parts of the region. The light rain we do see through the day into the evening for the most part will be more of a nuisance and very spotty in coverage. Lows tonight will bottom out in the lower 40s under mostly cloudy skies, with winds out of the east up to 13 mph.

EXTENDED: Friday looks mostly cloudy with increasing rain chances as we head through the afternoon. High temperatures will stay in the mid 50s north to lower 60s in the Ozarks. Showers and isolated t-storms will become likely Friday night, tapering off by early Saturday morning as a storm system pushes to our east. Rainfall amounts will vary across Mid-Missouri, with southern parts of Mid-Missouri seeing up to half an inch. Areas along and north of I-70 will see higher amounts, with many locations picking up nearly an inch of rain. Winds will shift to the north by noon Saturday and temperatures will cool into the 40s after reaching the mid to upper 50s early in the day. Most of the day Saturday looks dry as rain pushes off to the east in the morning but clouds will be persistent. Sunday will be partly cloudy with highs in the 50s. Another chance of rain moves in Sunday night with periods of heavy rain from Monday through Tuesday and seasonal temperatures.
