Texas has seen five package explosions in the last month, killing 2 and injuring 4
There have been five package bombings since March 2nd in Texas, which have killed two and injured 4 others.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department told ABC 17 that although the package bombings have only been seen in Texas in the last month, they could happen anywhere.
A neighbor of a Texas victim affected by one of the bombings said, “the next thing I knew, I saw an ambulance with my neighbor on it. You know, on the stretcher, that was terrifying for me.”
FBI is on the hunt for the suspect/suspects of these package explosions, but until then, ABC 17, asked the Boone County Sheriff’s Department how to keep safe from an unexpected or suspicious package that arrives at the front door.
Sheriff Tom O’Sullivan said, “if it just doesn’t look right, it probably isn’t right. You should air on the side of caution.”
He told ABC 17 some suspicious signs to lookout for:
The package is unexpected It’s wrapped in a strange way Strings and wires hang from it Liquid and powder come from it Addressed in a strange way (misspellings) Marked with personal or private
If a package shows up with any of these signs, it could be important to have it looked at by the fire department. O’Sullivan says to call 9-1-1 to make sure it is not hazardous.
“The likelihood of you receiving a package containing explosives or hazardous materials, it’s very, very rare,” said O’Sullivan.
The FBI, who said due to the seriousness of the case and the on-going investigation, they could not provide ABC 17 with a statement.
