Columbia woman charged after allegedly lighting man on fire
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia woman is facing a domestic assault charge after allegedly setting a man on fire Saturday morning.
A Boone County prosecutor has charged Latisha Stapleton with first-degree domestic assault after allegedly setting a man on fire.
According to the probable cause statement, police responded to an apartment on the 2500 block of Quail Drive Saturday just before 3 a.m.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim was attempting to restrain Stapleton from behind while she had a kitchen knife in her hand.
The victim told police that he was in Stapleton’s vehicle when she poured a can of Sea Foam (a vehicle fuel treatment) into his lap and set it on fire, according to the probable cause statement.
The victim then showed police and EMS his burn wound on his hip.
According to online court records, Stapleton does not have a defense attorney listed at this time.
Police are holding Stapleton without bond at the Boone County Jail.
Stapleton is scheduled for a confined docket hearing on June 1 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 22.
