Jefferson City police arrest man accused of intentionally setting car on fire
Jefferson City police arrested Joshua Lehman on Saturday after officers were dispatched to the Corwin Honda lot on Missouri Boulevard for reports of a vehicle fire.
Police said when they arrived on scene, they saw a burned 2017 Honda Civic. The estimated amount of damages was $30,000.
Lehman turned himself in to the police department and admitted to setting the fire by breaking out the car’s window and lighting some clothing on fire.
Lehman said he started the fire because the Japanese should not be allowed to sell vehicles in the United States after World War II.
According to the probable cause statement, police have several documented incidents where Lehman has made statements alleging illegal activities which were not founded.
Lehman was charged with intentional burning and property damage.
