Vandalia man seriously injured in I-70 crash

A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after crashing his bike on I-70 in Montgomery County.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Jonesburg.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver, Carl Heaston, 48, of Vandalia, slowed down due to traffic congestion and went off the road. Troopers said Heaston was thrown from his motorcycle.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
