Boone County investigating fire at home; started in kitchen

UPDATE: In a Facebook post, the Boone County Fire Protection District said the fire resulted in $10,000 worth of damage to the home in 1100 block of El Chaparral Avenue.

Fire crews say they are still investigating the cause of the fire, but believe it started “near a kitchen appliance.”

“The homeowners said they were alerted to the fire because of a working smoke detector in the home,” according to the statement. No injuries were reported by residents or firefighters.

ORIGINAL: Boone County Fire investigators are working to determine was caused a fire in the county.

Fire crews responded to El Chaparral Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen.
