Juvenile hospitalized with gunshot wound after northeast Columbia shooting

UPDATE 5:46 p.m. : The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirm there are two groups involved in the shooting. They are following several leads at this time.

UPDATE 1:16 p.m.: A teenager has been released from the hospital after deputies say he was shot in the Teresa Drive shooting last night.

ABC 17 spoke to the neighbor who made the call to dispatch last night. They said they heard 8-10 gun shots outside their bedroom.

Pink stains numbering the shots fired cover the ground, confirming 10 shots fired.

UPDATE 8:26 a.m.: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms with ABC 17 News that deputies were called out to the area of Teresa Drive and Gregory Drive in reference to gunshots heard in the area.

Deputies say overnight, a juvenile male showed up to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan told ABC 17 News deputies are still investigating what led up to the shooting.

ORIGINAL: ABC 17 News has called the Boone County Sheriff’s Department to find out new information in an ongoing investigation northeast of Columbia Thursday night.

Our news crews saw deputies and Columbia police officers investigating in the 6000 block of North Teresa Drive in Boone County around 10:53 p.m.

A CPD K-9 unit was also seen searching the area.
