Jefferson City man accused in Fulton drug bust

A Jefferson City man is now in custody after he was arrested in Fulton on multiple active warrants.

Fulton police officers performed a traffic stop late Thursday night near Hwy 54 and Route F.

“The driver, later identified as Mathew Hoppe, attempted to conceal his identity by giving officer’s a false name, date of birth and Social Security number,” said a Fulton police spokesman. “While attempting to identify Hoppe, officer’s observed possible narcotics in the vehicle.”

Deputies from Callaway County deployed K-9 units that discovered controlled substances in the car.

Officers found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other items they say are typically used to sell drugs.

“Hoppe also had outstanding warrants out of Boone, Cole, and Cooper counties,” said the spokesman.

Hoppe was arrested on suspicion of distribution of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, driving while revoked, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
