Suspect in KinderCare bomb threat has previous charges

The suspect in this week's bomb threat at a Columbia daycare has been prosecuted for other felonies in the past, including in connection with the shooting death of a family member.

Boone County prosecutors charged Alexzander S. Green on Wednesday with making a terrorist threat, first-degree stalking and second-degree child endangerment after a police said a bomb threat led to the evacuation of KinderCare in west Columbia.

It wasn't clear Thursday morning whether he was in custody.

Green was charged in 2018 with two counts of child endangerment in St. Joseph, Missouri. The charges stemmed from his niece's shooting death, according to court documents. Green was babysitting his sister's kids at the time, when his nephew got ahold of a gun that was under Green's pillow and accidentally shot his niece, police said at the time.

Police said they also found 474 grams of marijuana, a handgun and $3,763 in cash on the property. The marijuana is what led to the second charge of child endangerment.

Green pleaded guilty and was given probation. His probation was revoked in January 2020 and he was released from custody that May, according to Missouri Department of Corrections records. He was released from parole supervision earlier this month.

In 2019, Green was charged with domestic assault for allegedly kicking down his girlfriend's door. The probable cause statement said that Green caused damage to the door, broke her phone and took her keys to the car and left.

In every case, the probable cause statement says that the police believe that Green is a danger to the victim, and a danger to the community.

The Columbia Police Department did not immediately respond to a request asking whether Green has been arrested.

Green is known to live and travel to St. Joseph and Atchinson, Kansas.
