Columbia police arrest man accused of burglary, assault

UPDATE 3/7: Ford has been charged with assault, burglary, and violating an order of protection.

According to the probable cause statement, Ford has a history of assaulting the victim. He also has an extensive criminal history, which includes arrests for assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, stealing and domestic assault.

Police said that while Ford was in custody, he claimed he would “harm” the victim after he was released.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Andre Ford on Monday night after officers were dispatched to a burglary in the 1000 block of Garth Avenue.

Police said Ford unlawfully entered the house and assaulted a female victim by hitting and scratching her repeatedly.

Officers said Ford had previously been served a Full Order of Protection against the victim.

Police said they saw several small cuts and scratches on the victim’s face.

Ford faces possible charges of burglary, violation of order of protection and assault.
