Lawyers for Greitens not expecting to request change of venue in criminal trial

Lawyers for Gov. Eric Greitens announced on Tuesday they are not expecting to request a change of venue in the governor’s criminal trial.

Attorney Jim Martin told St. Louis Circuit Judge Rex Burlison that the defense has no intention of requesting that the case be moved out of St. Louis “unless new information comes up” that merits a venue change request.

Burlison is expected to call 160 prospective jurors for the trial. That will be more than twice the number normally called. 12 jurors will hear the case.

Greitens was recently indicted by a grand jury in February for invasion of privacy. He is accused of taking a compromising photo of a woman without her permission in 2015. The governor has denied the criminal wrongdoing.
