Woman charged with leaving the scene of accident after hitting pedestrian in February

A woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and a DWI after she was accused of hitting a pedestrian with her car in February.

ABC 17 previously reported that Elizabeth Copus was driving east on Prathersville Road when she hit the pedestrian. Copus was accused of driving away and failing to yield to Boone County deputies.

A chase began but stopped on Oakland Gravel Road near Gregory Drive. Officers said Copus continued to not listen to deputies and was eventually arrested.

Boone County officials told ABC 17 News the 47-year-old victim was conscious and responsive when he was taken to an area hospital.

A criminal setting for the case is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
