UPDATE: No one hurt in Boone County house fire

UPDATE (6:30 PM): The cause of what started the fire is under investigation.

Capt. Martina Pounds said the fire started in a hallway in the middle of the home.

No one was home at the time. A passerby called in the fire after reportedly seeing flames coming out of the front window.

One lane of Highway 124 in the area was shut down while firefighters worked to put out the fire.

ORIGINAL: Right now firefighters from the Boone County Fire Protection District are working to put out a fire at a home in the 17000 block of North Highway 124 between Hallsville and Centralia.

Firefighters were called to the home around 4:45 p.m.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert at 5:10 p.m. stating Highway 124 and Route U were closed due to a fire.
