Man arrested by Lincoln University police officers after short chase

UPDATE 3/1: The suspect was identified as Derenzie Parks.

According to the probable cause statement, officers saw Parks driving with expired registration.

Police attempted to stop the car in the 900 block of East Elm but Parks continued to drive in a careless and imprudent manner. He was accused of driving on the wrong side of the road, not using turn signals, failing to stop at stop signs and speeding.

Parks eventually got out of the car and a foot pursuit began. He was taken into custody in the 600 block of High Street.

Officers located a revolver, marijuana, and cocaine in his clothing.

According to the probable cause statement, Parks has a prior felony conviction for armed robbery in Georgia.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after leading Lincoln University police officers on a short chase.

The pursuit started after officers tried to stop the suspect for expired tags near Lincoln University’s campus.

The chase ended at the 500 block of East Wall Way. Drugs and a gun were found in the suspect’s vehicle.
