Columbia police arrest man accused of breaking baby’s arm

UPDATE 3/1: Capps has been charged with abuse or neglect of a child.

According to the probable cause statement, Capps grabbed the baby’s arm either while on his chest or on a roll pillow after the child vomitted on him four different times.

Capps admitted to police that he grabbed the child’s arm and moved it. He claimed he felt a vibration and grinding in the upper arm.

Capps told officers he was frustrated because the baby continued to vomit on multiple shirts.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police arrested Christopher Capps on Tuesday afternoon after officers were dispatched to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in reference to to an urgent assist.

Police said the investigation revealed that Capps broke an 11-week old female’s bone. The broken bone was a spiral fracture to her right arm.

Capps faces possible charges of felony abuse of a child.
