Tracking heat, hail, and wind for Friday evening

TODAY: A Weather Alert Day has been issued for Friday, as severe storms are expected for some this afternoon. The heat and humidity has been allowed to build for the last week, but a cold front moves through this afternoon to bring an end to that. The front is to our west this morning and looks to slowly move towards us later this evening. This allows heat to build again for most of us ahead of a chance for storms. Winds may be variable at times ahead of the front, and clouds more prevalent, so today's highs will likely be a few degrees cooler than Thursday, but still near 90 for most. Storms along and ahead of the front Friday evening will have potential to produce large hail and damaging winds. If you haven't yet, read more details about today's event here.

TONIGHT: Behind the initial line of storms, showers will continue overnight. Drier conditions with temperatures in the 60s are expected early Saturday.

EXTENDED: The sun will come back out Saturday, climbing highs into the 80s, with another chance for storms keeping highs in the upper 70s on Sunday. Monday looks dry as high pressure slides in; expect highs in the upper 70s. Rain chances return through the middle of the week with highs expected in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
