Boone County man arrested in Illinois for sex crimes against a child
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Boone County man accused of sex crimes has been arrested in Illinois.
47-year-old James Bennett is booked into the Cook County Jail on Monday after being arrested at the Chicago O'Hare Airport on Monday.
He was charged with molestation, sodomy and sexual misconduct with a child under the age of 15.
The 6-year-old victim told investigators that Bennett would hold a hot metal spoon on him leaving red and sore spots on him. The victim also said he was hung upside down in a closet for punishment, even bringing in other children to punish the victim according to a probable cause statement.
According to court documents, Bennett allegedly sexually assaulted the victim while sitting on the victim and when the victim was tied up. Bennett also assaulted the victim attempting to force the victim to sexually pleasure him, according to the probable cause statement.
It's unclear when he might be extradited back to Boone County.
