Boone County deputies arrest man after car chase

Boone County deputies arrested Joshua Welch on Friday morning after officers were involved in a pursuit that ended in a crash off Scott Boulevard in the Country Hill Estates.

Deputies said they responded to the 4400 block of Belleview Drive where a woman claimed she had been assaulted and not allowed to leave the house.

Officers said when they responded, Welch sped off in the woman’s car.

The chase began and Welch drove through several yards before striking a concrete sewer cover and stopping behind a residence on Brampton Lane.

Officers found Welch hiding in nearby bushes.

Deputies searched the car and found marijuana, methamphetamine and numerous counterfeit bills.

Welch faces possible charges of kidnapping, possessing a controlled substance, forgery, resisting arrest, domestic assault, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while revoked.
