Unseasonably warm Thursday, with scattered showers by evening

THURSDAY: It’s an unseasonably warm and slightly humid day across Mid-Missouri. Plenty of moisture is streaming into the region, thanks to breezy winds out of the southwest. Winds will be up to 15 mph through the afternoon, with gusts as high as 30. Not only will we see increasing humidity, but temperatures will climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s through the day. Spot showers are possible into the afternoon hours, but the best chance for any rain comes this evening as a strong cold front tracks through Mid-Missouri.

TONIGHT: A line of showers and storms will develop this evening, as a cold front begins to track through Mid-Missouri. Little rainfall accumulation is expected and will primarily affect those along and south of Interstate 70. Following the passage of the cold front, we’ll see significantly colder conditions filter into Mid-Missouri. Temperatures overnight will fall about 40 degrees into the 20s, with gusty winds making it feel more like the teens by tomorrow morning. Overcast skies will stay with us through the night, before slowly clearing out into the day Friday.

EXTENDED: Don’t let sunny skies fool you tomorrow as it will be cold with high temperatures only reaching the mid 30s with a diminishing north wind in the afternoon. The drop in temperatures will be brief as this weekend highs will rise back in the 40s Saturday and 50s Sunday. An upper level wave moving through Saturday will increase clouds but rain chances are limited. A better chance of rain moves in Sunday night through Tuesday with an active weather pattern early next week. Our southeastern could see 2″+ of rainfall by next week. In addition to the wet week next week, temperatures look to rebound back into the mid 60s by Monday, as a return to spring conditions arrives.
